My first show on Day 3 of Paris Haute Couture Week was at Franck Sorbier. The ever-show-man chose a courtyard in a historic building in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.

Titled Nuages, meaning clouds, dancers and models including one on horseback which has become a tradition, presented Sorbier’s latest collection standing on clouds of white fabric.

In front of a star-studded front row including Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Katy Perry, and Michelle Yeoh, Balenciaga’s slow-motion models took to the runway presenting Demna’s vision of blending house codes with today’s cool kids aesthetic catapulting oversized hoodies, football shirts and jeans into the couture sphere.

Then came a quick trip to Place Vendôme for some serious sparkle.

First up was Chaumet, for the presentation of their latest high jewelry collection titled Chaumet En Scene at the Maison’s grand salons on top of the boutique. It was impossible to pick a favorite of the fabulous pieces inspired by the Maison’s bond to music and dance.

I then went on to one of Italy’s biggest names in jewelry, Damiani where I was immediately drawn to a fabulous set of coral, precious stones, and diamond necklaces and earrings, that also proved a perfect color match for today’s outfit!

Last but not least for jewels of the day, a visit to the Cartier presentation at my favorite hotel in the city of lights, the Ritz. The famous French jewelry house doubled up in presenting both the Nature Sauvage high jewelry collection and the new Tutti Tutti fine jewelry pieces, which were as fun and colorful as the delicious Pavlova with berries served on the terrace.

There wasn’t much time left to quickly head to the Carousel du Louvre for Elie Saab‘s show. Titled An Enchanted Serenade the red carpet favorite designer, took a gothic inspiration that resulted in runway goddesses transcending to his loyal and chic front-row clients including Nelly Karim, Ghada Abdelrazek, Avril Lavigne, and Olivia Palermo.

On to Zuhair Murad, who filled the salons of the grand and historic Hotel Potocki with his full-on glammed clients and fans including Ghada Abdelrazek and Nelly Karim, this winter, Zuhair Murad‘s woman embodies the power of nature. Sparkling crystals illuminate sexy gowns in a mainly black or red color palette in velvets, tulle, and satin matched with leather.

Last, of today’s shows, Jean Paul Gaultier, who chose Nicolas Di Felice for his latest collection. The 7th in line to reinterpret the codes of the house through their vision, the young Belge designer opted for a very minimalist silhouette with subtle references to the JPG house codes.

Day 3 came to a rather unexpected but very enjoyable end at the historic National Library of France among a fine crowd of diplomats and intellectuals hosted by HE Hend Al Otaiba, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to France: the launch of the 10th edition of Majlon by Mazara, a publishing house founded by Catharina Minthe dedicated to books about the Arab world.

Stay tuned for Day 4, the last day of this season’s Paris couture week.
